Practice Website

This section covers:

  • Designing good and usable Practice Websites.
  • Setting up, or getting your site built.
  • Running a successful Practice Website that serves your clients and You.

Just a few years ago it was optional whether you had a site or not. If you were well-established, with a large client base, then you could probably get away without putting together a practice website.Today this is not so. The business advantages of having your own private practice site are massively in favour of having one. No matter your discipline, whether Coaching, Psycotherapy, Counciling or Hyponotherapy, the situation is the same. You need to be on the web.

The question now is what type of website do you need to build?

It may be quite reasonable for you to have a small, few page website, describing you and your services.

Realistically though, if you are looking to create a full and vibrant practice, with loyal clients willing to pay what you’re worth, then you’re going to have to put effort into presenting yourself to the world. A website that is engaging for your target audience is a key component in how you market your practice.

Here is just one example of how a good website will benefit you.  When local journalists want to write a story these days, they just go to the Internet. If you appear at the top of the results then they will come and talk with you. This puts your name on the radio, on the television or in print.

Many of your potential clients will look you up on the Internet before seeing you for the first time. Perhaps your only Internet presence is on a social site, and those embarrassing photos other people put up with you in them.

Another example of how the world has changed is the way internet search engines work. Today search engines want to deliver local businesses at the top of the results. To be in that list you need to have a website.

Designing and building a suitable site is quite time-consuming. Although it is possible to employ others to do this, a quality job is always going to be expensive. $5000 is a reasonable price to pay for a decent site, with good content that looks great. A good website consists of both visual and text elements, which require the application of different skills. This is partly why the cost can be so high.

If you are on a tight budget, I would suggest that you put together your own site for now, one that will be good enough to get you the initial clients into your practice, paying you good money. You will then be able to afford to pay professionals to take the work you have done and turn it into something special.
