You may have started your private practice many years ago, or perhaps you are just Nupie.

You may be working as a coach or one of the talking therapies,  or perhaps you are more involved with hands-on treatments such as shiatsu and reflexology, or perhaps you are at the energetic or even spiritual end of the scale.  Wherever you are you are probably facing the same issues as others.

You went through a long, and expensive training.  You qualified and started your practice.  Usually a few friends come along for a while, if you are really lucky you get some referrals.  You put out a few flyers and then well nothing!

Nobody told you what it was going to take to build a successful practice.

Again if you are fairly typical you go out and gain yet another qualification because surely that has got to do it.  Well, it doesn’t.  There are many practitioners out there with multiple qualifications and still a fairly empty practice.

This site came into being because there is a clear need for people to get talking to each other about building their business.  And yes it is a business, if you want to make a reasonable living from this. However, that does not mean you have to do on ethical things to build it.

The intention is by mid-2011 there will be a community site associated with this project.  This is where you can exchange views with similar practitioners, or people with totally different disciplines.  Everyone faces broadly the same issues.

In addition there are probably some core skills and strategies you could be missing.  We all cringe when we hear the word sales yet this is what we have to do, now putting aside some of the issues people occasionally have with money, the issue is usually one of approach and practice.  If you know how to present things to people in a way that makes sense to them you can stop selling and start enrolling new clients.

So the intention is that this site will grow into a resource that you, your colleagues and others can benefit from viewing.

As the project grows it will be great to hear from you as to what you need, your support issues, your training issues or just simply somebody somewhere who is going through what you are going through.
